KH2, work
The KH2 Demyx battle in Hollow Bastion is the most annoying boss battle ever. I died four times before I said "fuck this" and went to go level up to, ooh, about ten levels higher than I had been. And I still nearly died.

(Well, no, I didn't nearly die - I kept nearly failing his stupid little "defeat X water forms in X seconds" annoyance and then nearly dying from those effing geysers.)

The whole irritation of the battle nearly distracted me from the hilarious woobie that is Demyx talking to himself and attempting to play nice with the Keyblade Master. And also made me think that the whole "Demyx is not a good fighter" thing in Jiminy's Journal is really undeserved. This is my second playthrough, and when I played through the first time Demyx was the only boss to ever give me trouble. (On the understanding that I didn't fight Sephiroth or the paradox cups. Plot boss battles, I mean.)

KH2 is also a leetle bit of a broken record in terms of how it deals with situations. Any time there's something plot-related that Sora needs to get through, what do they do? Start up a scripted battle. It's getting really monotonous. The Dave told me about this when he was playing it, but I thought he was exaggerating.

In more general life terms, I am once again working, and have been for the past two weeks. Yay monies! On a more hilarious note, one of my new work colleagues has a surname that - I kid you not - is "Moar". This is the same place that has a project which abbreviates to "PWP" - and not only that, it is frequently referred to as the "PWP project". Sometimes I have difficulty stopping myself from giggling at the inadvertently inappropriate subcultural references.

Since I've got a fairly long journey into work, I've been ploughing through the various academic books I kept wanting to read and never getting round to. I still have a reasonable list that I want to sell, though, so I might stick some details up here once I get it sorted out.

Pfffft, wait till you attempt to destroy Sephiroth. Thankfully, it's an optional fight. I have leveled up to the max, and I STILL can't beat him.

Once you are done with KH2, may I suggest that you try to find a copy of OKAMI (http://youtube.com/watch?v=XTUm07enrs4) to play? Not only is the storyline fun, and the gamplay cool, the art is absolutely amazing. AMAZING. SO kickass that Nintendo has basically ported the game over for the Wii.

For some reason, difficult optional boss battles don't annoy me as much as difficult plot boss battles. Optional boss battles are supposed to make you want to throw the controller at the screen. I mean, in one game I own the ultimate optional boss has an attack that does more damage than your maximum HP and cannot miss, so the entire boss fight is an exercise in not fucking up and letting him hit you with it. Which is stupidly difficult for reasons I won't go into because one comment cannot contain that rant. Oy vey.

I have heard much of Okami! The Dave had a copy and was raving about it for ages, and then loaned it to everybody but me when I had a spare five minutes to play it. Okami is definitely on my list of Games To Buy, buuuut only once I've played through the five other games I've currently got on the go and paid my rent and paid off my overdraft. Eheh. I went through a buying spree a little while ago and have been regretting it ever since. ^^;

Oh man, it's seriously amazing. I've replayed it several times and the fun never ends. I think it's because it's just so damned beautiful. (Nintendo will also be releasing it for the Wii, because it's THAT AWESOME.)

What other games have you got on your queue? I haven't bought any in nearly a year and I'm looking for some new ones.

I'm currently replaying DDS 1 & 2, forcing myself to keep going on FFX-2 so that I can see the "perfect" ending because I like Tidus, dammit, Nocturne, and KH2. Vagrant Story is my number one priority for games to get next, though. Aaaaaand since we last spoke I've started replaying FFXII, too. Basically, lots of replaying because a) they're mostly good games (FFX-2 doesn't count), and b) must save monies.

If you're looking for new games, go for DDS (Digital Devil Saga) 1 & 2 first, and then after that go looking for Nocturne. I suggest them that way around because Nocturne is much harder to find, so you'll probably have to resort to Ebay for second-hand or - if you're lucky - new copies.

Aside from that, it's down to hoping Spore will actually be released soon. :/
